End of Summer Update

Although I am still not back to my full schedule, I have been actively working on many different kinds of cases.  Streetlights has continued to partner with CUCE and University Christian Church to help Greg, Debbie and daughter, Nicole. They are in their own apartment now, he has his license back and started his new job today!

Greg, Nicole and Debbie

This last month alone I have assisted in a homeless family of eight, another family of five and another family of three. So many hurting people. These last three families are all "three generational families" and all homeless. The family of eight refused help that was available to them,  the family of five are in their own apartment now and I have just begun working with the family of three. At the point of intervention, all of these families were on the streets and with very young children.  Streetlights could not have accomplished what we did without the help of our partners.

Gary will be going on his second interview as part of his application for permanent housing. He now gets disability payments and we are hopeful that he will very soon be able to receive the surgery so badly needed for his knee and shoulder.

I am also working with another young woman and hoping to assist her in making choices for her life that will indeed be choices for life and not death.  So many who start out on that road to slow suicide called "drunkenness" simply are the walking wounded who have not dealt with anger or grief issues. So many are hurting so much inside that they deliberately hurt themselves physically in order to feel anything besides the brokenness of their own hearts.
