Networking With PG House, Safe Journey House, DC General, Christ House, SOME, Central Union Mission, CUCE, and The Salvation Army as well as many churches
Jerome is Safe at Safe Journey!!! When I first ministered to Jerome's family, he was homeless, very delusional and refusing treatment. On Feb. 27th, I met with Jerome's Mom and the staff at PG House to partner in obtaining placement for the next phase of his care. On March 6th I transported him to Safe Journey House after they accepted my request for placement. During his stay there, the staff at both houses and I will be working on getting him into housing. These programs have the most caring, qualified staff members. I am honored to work along side of them.
As I look back over the last few winter months, I see Streetlights has been able to place, or be instrumental in getting placed, the following individuals:
As I look back over the last few winter months, I see Streetlights has been able to place, or be instrumental in getting placed, the following individuals:
- Linda W. ... met her through Matt S while they were eating at The Cafe. She was extremely intoxicated and also physically very ill. I took her to the ER where she was admitted for physical conditions first and then transferred to the psych ward for several days. From there she was housed by Streetlights volunteers (The Jackson's) until a bed opened up at which time she was then placed into Safe Journey House, where she completed that program and then entered the Reality House program. She finished the 28 day program and she now is living in their transitional housing unit. Upon completion of that program it is her hope to enter an Oxford House. I continue to work with Linda, as I do all willing clients, during each phase recovery.
- Jerome ... transported from PG House to Safe Journey House.
- Rubin... met him during JAG operation with Landover Community Response Team, placed him immediately into shelter in Hyattsville for first night he asked for shelter, than the next day when he asked for placement in another program more suited to his goals, I took him to the Salvation Army Rehab in Hyattsville where he was admitted. He called me last week and is doing great. He asked me to assist him in his job search when he is nearing the end of that program. I agreed and told him that I will be introducing him to Barbara Miller of Run Your Race at that time.
- Faith .... placed in Safe Housing (Dom. Violence case) upon release from jail in Front Royal, VA. She is in my custody pending interstate compaq agreement when her probation case will transfer to Hyattsville, Maryland.
- Johnny J.. Presented my After Care Plan to the public defender's office in Anne Arundel County for Johnny J. which includes letters of acceptance into Safe Journey House and the PEP program, letters of commitment of support from NAMI and Streetlights of Bethany. The Salvation Army is also aware of this case and has agreed to come to the jail and interview him for acceptance into their program. The SOME program would have accepted him, but his residency is in Maryland. I am working with his probation officer who has already accepted my aftercare plan for Johnny.
- Linda ... I transported her and she was placed in shelter in DC General Hospital Women's Shelter after the Hyattsville Police Department called me to ask for assistance for her.
- Joseph ... met him at Safe Haven, but he could not remain in that program because he was too mentally ill and physically ill for their program. I called the Crisis Hot line and they accepted him into PG House, I drove him there. From there he was taken to the hospital. I networked with the hospital and they took my request to place him into Heartland of Adelphi Nursing Home. He was there for a couple of days while I worked with them to get him placed into another facility. They placed him into a group home which was not equipped to handle his needs but was kind enough to keep him until such time as a bed could be found in a group home for the mentally ill. I was able within a few days to find placement for him in a private home setting which specialized in Joseph's particular needs. He is now "home" and safe and happy with his new family. .
- Victoria... transported and placed into an AA group home rehab program in Baltimore, closer to her family.
- Carl ... placed first into Central Union Mission (transported there upon acceptance)... upon my request, he was taken to hospital from there due to 3 stab wounds that needed treatment. After being released, he could not return to Central Union due to safety issues for him and also the other men. I then asked for and received placement into Christ House and transported him there. They agreed to transport him into SOME after a bed was ready for him and he was medically released to go. I had asked SOME to network with us on this case and they agreed. Carl was admitted into the SOME program, has completed all but the final stages of the program and then will be placed into transitional housing. I referred him to Barbara Miller of Run Your Race for Job preparedness and they are currently working together. He is doing great.
- Tommy... I met him while he was living in the woods and had been for many years. I was able to get custody of him while we awaited interstate compact agreement to transfer to Martinsburg West Virginia V. A. Hospital where he is now a patient. He is doing well and we follow up with him almost daily. He is court ordered into that program but upon release we will have him in housing.
- Pedro.. Transported to Salvation Army, they transported to LaCasa Shelter, I went and asked that the men be placed into program. I've followed up and all three men are doing great.
- Hosea ...Transported to Salvation Army, they transported to LaCasa Shelter, I went and asked that the men be placed into program. I've followed up and all three men are doing great.
